The gym itself is great, but the “personal training only” areas and equipment are a bummer. What if I want to use that equipment?
I usually go to movati. But since goodlife opened first, I thought why not give it a try. To be honest this been the worst experience with a gym. The staffs are so rude. They took my money and double charged me twice. When I call to ask why, they give you no answer and act so rude on the phone. Never hated a gym as much as this one.
A Central downtown gym that has 3 floors. Naturally, its packed at lunch and 5-7pm on weekdays, fairly empty on weekends. The morning staff are really friendly, and I’ve definitely run into some odd characters at night. The first floor has the classic gym style setup. Half the gym is filled with cardio equipment, while the other half is for strength training. It has 2 bench presses, 3 squat racks, a litany of machines, and about 7 free weight benches. They have a hack squat machine and a hip thrust machine which you dont always find at gyms. The space is used very efficiently. Equipment is well maintained. Gym goers here tend to be at an intermediate fitness level, so are knowledgeable of gym etiquette. I have yet to see someone do bicep curls in a squat rack.
The Second floor is reserved for trainers only, while the third has more cardio equipment and a large room for group classes which are generally pretty solid.
The change room is adequate. My main gripe is that there are barely any full height lockers, which makes it hard to fit work clothes and a gym bag in the locker; especially in the winter. People also seem to have a hard time leaving their shoes by the door so they dont track snow into the change room.
COVID: I would say about 70% of gym goers wear masks. People follow the cleaning rules, and staff are diligent with cleaning after 1 hour timeslots. I feel safe exercising here (understanding full well that being at the gym is essentially the worst place to be in a pandemic).
Been going to this gym for a long time and I have to say it’s my favorite compared to hunt club and heron gate. Staff are friendly and helpful.
I once attended the 9-10pm appointment and I had a last set to finish when it became 10pm (other clients were still exercising). While doing my set, one of the staff members kept insisting that I needed to leave immediately because time is up. But once I left he kept nagging me to clean the equipment before I leave. When I said that I needed to quickly leave since the gym is closing he started arguing for two minutes straight.
After I cleaned the equipment (which I always do unless someone wants me outta there asap), the dude literally kept following me everywhere, up the stairs, in the lockers, down the stairs, like some kind of gym police.
Such behaviour is unnecessary and can only be interpreted as childish and uncomfortable. Literally, no one was going to use any of the equipment since the gym was closing. Plus, the staff deep cleans the equipment upon closing.
I hope this gym facility would consider lecturing some of their staff members on how to behave around clients.
