Yesterday I tried to make an appointment with our regular veterinary clinic but they were full and recommended 24 Hour Animal Clinic.
The staff were friendly, efficient, well organized and professional.
However, I was shocked at the recommendation for care and the cost for the service.
My cat had been out fighting earlier in the week and was bitten or scratched by his “friend”. His back foot was swollen and infected and he was not putting weight on it. I knew what had happened because this has happened before. I told the vet technician, and she seemed to pay attention. She showed an interest in the cat.
However, then the veterinarian came in, she seemed to pay no personal attention to the cat. She did not ask me what had happened. She tried to touch his paw, from which, he winced. She said she would have to sedate him to look at the paw and clean it and while he was sedated she was going to xray his leg to see if it was broken.
I was shocked, and I think my shock registered through my mask. She went back to the cost sheet and at my questioning reduced to cost from over $600 to under $200, for just the examination, some anti-biotics and the suggestion of soaking his foot in epsom salts.
I would not recommend this clinic, because, my experience indicated that they are more interested in expensive procedures than simple care for the animal.
