I posted my vehicle for sale elsewhere and I was approached by someone who seemed like an individual. After some time and after few messages have been exchanged they have presented themselves as AutoBye startup. . I find this misleading and borderline unethical. not really a good way to start a business in my view

Never respond to anyone from AutoBye.com, They will reach out to you like a normal buyer from kijiji or AutoTrader and later respond with a standard greeting message. They will ask you for more details and without even seeing the car, they will try to abuse you by estimating your car for roughly 25% of your asking price. If you are experienced in handling scammers/abusers, you can have some fun with them….

I keep on getting text messages from this company long after I deleted my car sale advertisement.

I Placed an advertisement on the internet and was approached by several representatives of Autobye for their service over the course of a month, different phone number each time. I was offered a super lowball offer.
I respectfully declined their service. I kept on getting harassed via text message.
The texts usually go as followed …
Hi, is your ( insert car model here) still available ?
Reply: ( your reply )
Response: Great. My name is xxx and I represent a local startup company called AutoBye …
Please remove a potential clients phone number from your system once or in my case the three times I declined.

So frustrating. They contacted me I told them I was not interested in selling at trade-in rates. They said this is different they offer higher values because they have buyers. They will give you a quote and if you take it to a partner and it all checks out the offer will stand. I told them there was curb rash, a few dings etc and they offered a 12-14k range. I set up an appt and the salesman comes to me after driving the car for 20 minutes and says so what is it they quoted you? We can give you 11k. Such a collosal waste of time.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM! These people are very misleading. They start by pretending to be a private person responding to your ad. After a few questions they reveal who they are. After giving them the information they give you a price range for your vehicle. Lower than what you want to sell privately but substantially higher than what a dealer would offer. Then they send you to one of their “partner dealers” which is just a regular dealership with no affiliation with them. After being offered more than a $1000 less than the lower end of their range they did not answer any further texts. This is a numbers game. They get commissions for bringing potential customers into dealerships. If the people don’t sell the car to the dealership it’s no skin off their back. Don’t waste your time.
