They took over a pension I had through great west life and invested $15780.16 in 2013 in a fund that charged an MER of 3.8%. 7 years later my investment returned a 3% annualized return. In other words assumption life made more off my pension then I did. Unfortunately my wife has fared much worse with assumption life. They invested her pension in a balanced growth fund that returned $66 after being invested in a fund that had a 3.61% MER for 7 years. If you’re wondering why I kept my pension invested with these jokers for so long it’s because the back end fees and withdrawal fees were exorbitant and would have decimated the value of the portfolio. It also took 3 months to get my pension transferred and 4 months to get my wife’s transferred out of the account. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them if you can.
