Dr. Tsai removed a large mass (baseball sized) and removal of my left Thyroid. I knew I had chosen a good surgeon when at the hospital nursing staff remarked how good Dr. Tsai work is. That same staff said he “never” makes surgical mistakes. This was very reassuring.

My surgery could have resulted in loss of speech and other complications as there were a lot of nearby nerves and the mass was close to my trachea. Now two weeks after surgery I am nearly fully recovered with no side effects and no other complications.

Dr. Tsai is not one to carry on long conversations. You will find he gets right to the business at hand and keeps things brief and to the point. Overall a brilliant surgeon !

I’ve had 3 appointments with Dr Tsai. The first he was very late with no apologies. He was very rough with the nasal camera and zero bedside manner. All he had to say was “People say this hurts” before he did it. It He could have coached me to breath slowly and talked me through it, but no… Second appointment was also very disappointing. Third appointment was today, he was late again. He told me the sinus CT Scan can back and was “clear” no problems. He had no explanation for the left sided sinus pain (maxillary just under my cheek bone) and just said go back to your doctor and maybe get allergy testing. I explained I have little to no allergy symptoms. That was it, I was dismissed from the appointment. I was reading my copy of the CT Scan on the way out and noticed the first line states that I have a cyst/polyp in my left maxillary sinus. Also a septum deviated to the left. I turned around and walked back in, the receptionist said he was now in with his next patient but she would put me back into a room and let him know I had a question. 15 minutes later he finished his appointment, walked past me and went into his office. Five more mins go by and I was now going to be late for another appt I had, so I went and asked the receptionist again, she said she would tell him again. Then he came in with no mask on (During Covid) and when I questioned the CT results he said “well 20-30% of people have a cyst/polyp or scar tissue and that it MAY not be causing my pain.” I said well that is the ONLY area that I have pain in my face. He said surgery may or may not help and to come back if it gets worse. I asked if the polyp could turn cancerous and he replied “Sure you can get cancer anywhere in your body”. Not exactly a reassuring answer, basically just wait till you have more pain, and then we will take some sort of action like another CT. I said “When you told me my CT was all clear I would have appreciated this additional info during my appointment time that obviously the CT is NOT clear and the cyst could be causing the pain “. He mumbled a weak apology. What a waste of time.. Thank god I took the time to read my scan myself as this is a problem I have been dealing with for over a year. Now I at least know there actually may be a cause for this pain. On the way out I said to his receptionist “I hope he treats you better than he treats his patients” He overheard me, and made no comment. Seriously if you are referred to him ask your GP for a different ENT. I would NEVER allow this man to do surgery on me. He is also very arrogant and aloof, not a good combo.

My son has had bleeding noses for years. When it got worse, my own doctor would only do telephone calls with me or else he would tell me to go to emergency. Your office staff let us come in and you burned the inside of his nose. My son coughed all over the doctor and Dr. Tsai handled it in a calm, patient and professional manner. With coronavirus and blood, it was a bad scene. Dr. Tsai went above and beyond to take care of my son and I have to give my thanks.

Dr. Tsai did surgery on my wife’s thyroid cancer recently and I am very glad that his dedicated staff and the nurses at the hospital have been working through the coronavirus nightmare. We were terrified about going to the hospital and having surgery at this point in time and having to have surgery alone with no visitors. We had heard that some other doctors were only talking to patients in the phone. Dr. Tsai was there in person when we really needed him.
