Pathfinder began its services in 2002 by opening the first Pathfinder Youth Home in Richmond. This was a group home for youth at-risk. In 2003 the first Pathfinder Youth Centre opened in Surrey. PYCS ran multiple employment and mentorship programs for youth under the sponsorship of Service Canada. Pathfinder’s mentorship programs focus on youth, who have barriers to employment such as homelessness, mental health conditions, drug abuse, are in the care of the ministry or in trouble with the judicial system. The key to Pathfinder’s success is its programs that focus on life and employment training and provide mentorship which is crucial for youth at risk.
