We visited the Apple store in Chinook this week. Under the Covid health management processes that are in place, all I can say is have patience – a lot of patience!!
When you get to the store, entry is blocked off by barriers and is visibly being managed by staff in masks. We felt this was appropriate.
However, there is a lack of signage to communicate where you need to go and what you need to do / comply with to get into the store. As such we waited where we could see someone to talk to. This resulted in a never of customers in the middle of the mall hallway and had Mall security telling us how we had to line up outside the barriers.
When we got to speak to the employee we were then told we had lined up in the wrong place and had to go line up for a health check around the corner.
Once through the health check we were sent to another line, which we discovered when we got to the end of it that this was only to be registered for an appointment to go into the store, after which we were sent to another line-up to actually go into the store.
Customers were fetched from this line to go into the store, but not from the front of the line as we expected. People were collected from anywhere in the line in what appeared to be a random method. We eventually overheard it being explained that depending on what you were going to see/buy each section of the store was running at different speeds and as a gap appeared in a section, the next registered person for that section was collected and taken in.
Once in the store, due to the limited people in there, the experience and service was excellent!
So from that learning, we would recommend to make an appointment on line if you can and come prepared to wait and have patience with the fact that the controlled entry will look and feel like chaos!
