Great service.

I ordered online and picked up my books the next day. There was a line of 3 persons outside when I arrived, after waiting for less than a minute, someone from the store came outside to tell us we’d get served soon.

After waiting only few minutes I was inside the store, and got my books.

I’ll be back for sure.

[I’ve decided to give this place 5 stars. I hate the idea that I’d somehow drag down a higher rating, which I think they deserve. I’d be disappointed if the average rating was only 4 stars, because that would be wrong. Also, the most important thing about this place and any other business is whether it’s run responsibly, not whether I feel good or felt my visit was pleasant. I’d much rather deal with humans and endure variation in their moods or dispositions than encourage some sort of fake attempt at so-called “good” customer service with a smile or any attempt at kindness. Employees should not be expected to be any more consistent than their customers, am I right? And I’m certainly unwilling to give them what I seemed to be expecting and I feel in the right for that, honestly. Or, in short, when I think about it, they’re already perfect… or as good as reasonably possible, all things considered… which is my well-adjusted ideal of perfection.]

As always, perfectly good customer service in a no-nonsense environment. Employee was neither particularly friendly nor in any way fake.

She did her job respectably and, when I went to check greeting cards, suggested I do so from the far side, perhaps because I’d be further from her counter and therefore more in line with concerns of social distancing. The greeting cards were typical and not clever enough for my liking.

If she’d been slightly friendly or shown a real desire to be nice, I might give five stars, but if she’d been at all disingenuous, I would have given three, so four is for being serious, human, and respectably efficient without making me think I had to accept some sort of insincere facade in the process.

I’ve never had reason to think negatively about Book Warehouse. The closest to criticism I have is that I can remember waiting a couple of moments longer before they stopped talking to each other, but since it took about 20 seconds for them to help me once they started, they were still much much much much faster than a certain big box bookstore and its employees.

I inquired about a book with four words in the title; I had one word wrong: “to” instead of “at”. They told me they didn’t have it; I told them I knew they had it because I had checked before walking down in the rain to get it. From then on I was ignored, no interest from any of the staff in assisting me. I walked home and discovered my “mistake” in one second on Google. Of course they do indeed have two copies. Did I buy it? Not a chance, got it at the library. I want to support them, but they have to at least try to be helpful.

Super nice and friendly staff. Store is a bit small, but good selection of books and some toys for kids. I love how they have a stamp program to get a discount. Definite incentive since our family loves books.
